Your clipboard frequently handles highly sensitive information, such as passwords, API keys, and personal financial data. Clipdeck is built with a privacy-first, local-only architecture, meaning your data never leaves your device. However, you still might not want passwords persisting in your clipboard history.

Why Exclude Apps?

App Exclusions allow you to tell Clipdeck to completely ignore any "copy" commands that occur while a specific application is in the foreground. For example, if you exclude your password manager, any password you copy from it will be completely invisible to Clipdeck and will not be saved to your history.

Adding Exclusions

To add an application to your exclusion list:

Open Clipdeck and click the Settings gear icon.
Navigate to the Privacy & Exclusions tab.
Click the + Add App button.
Select the application (e.g., 1Password, Keychain Access, or your banking app) from the Finder dialog.

Once added, the exclusion takes effect immediately. You can remove an app from the exclusion list at any time by clicking the trash icon next to its name.

Automatic Safeguards

In addition to manual exclusions, Clipdeck respects macOS native security flags. If an application utilizes macOS's secure text fields (e.g., standard password input fields in Safari), Clipdeck will automatically ignore the copied text, even if the browser itself isn't explicitly excluded.
